Insect apocalypse?

The picture shows a common sow-thistle seed pod. The bugs appear to be small true bugs (order Hemiptera), with folded wings and long antennae. They may be seed-feeding bugs.

The the sow-thistle is one of many different weeds in a corner of my garden.
I'm encouraging them and looking for others to plant because they attract all manner of insects, pollinators; bees, flies, ladybirds, moths and butterflies to name a few.
There seem to be fewer insects around these days. Apart from mosquitoes - plenty of them.
But I haven't seen many dragonflies for example. Maybe the recent drought has something to do with that, but I often saw quite large ones flitting about in the zigzag flight path they use.
At night I don't see as many moths hovering around lights, and that's tough on the geckos that hang around waiting for a meal.
This may be because most outside lights are no longer incandescent so the colour of the light is much bluer than it used to be.
Anyway, I shall continue to cultivate my weed patch and hope that insects appreciate it.
